What happens during a speech pathology assessment for adults
Your speech pathologist will assess your communication needs by gathering relevant background information, discussing your strengths and challenges, understanding your support systems and reviewing how your current communication and swallowing abilities impacts your daily life.
Your speech pathologist will observe your communication difficulties and strengths in real-life or simulated activities using standardised and informal assessment tools and functional observations. This will include reviewing factors such as your voice quality, language and cognitive abilities, articulation, swallowing and/or social communication.
